DASH is one of a number of Cycle to Work providers operating under the same UK tax exemption rules (EIM21664), which allow the cost of a bike and eligible cycling equipment to be paid for via salary sacrifice. Whilst the underlying rules are consistent across providers, the experience for employees can vary significantly depending on which provider is used.

This guide explains how to use DASH Cycle to Work as an employee, including what options are available, what equipment is eligible under the scheme, where you can purchase from, and the steps involved in buying a bike and other equipment.

Does DASH Use Cycle to Work Vouchers?

Unlike other scheme providers, DASH does not use vouchers (sometimes called e-certificates). Instead, employees get access to DASH’s online store, where they can shop across the largest cycling catalogue in the UK, with over 20,000+ products, connecting employees to hundreds of retailers across the UK.

By removing vouchers, the process becomes more akin to how people typically shop online. Instead of entering credit card details, employees ‘pay’ via salary sacrifice (after approval from their employer, of course!).

How many bike shops is DASH partnered with?

Employees shopping with DASH can purchase any eligible product from any retailer of their choosing, and are not constrained by a pre-defined retailer network.

Because DASH does not use vouchers or letters of collection, the notions of a retailer network where an employee’s Cycle to Work voucher can be redeemed are not valid. Employees have the freedom to choose from every shop and product in the country to find what works best for them.

What can I purchase through Cycle to Work with DASH?

Employees shopping with DASH can purchase any product eligible under the scheme guidance from HMRC (EIM21664). Typically, this includes bikes, e-bikes, adapted cycles, accessories, and related cyclists’ safety equipment. Find the full list here.

DASH has the largest cycling catalogue in the UK, but if there is any product you can’t find on our platform, we can add it for you in minutes, so long as it meets the scheme rules.

How do I buy a bike with DASH?

To buy a bike with DASH, you select your bike and equipment online and follow a standard e-commerce checkout process. There is only one difference, which is that once you have chosen your delivery options and entered your delivery address, you will then sign a consumer hire agreement instead of entering your credit card details.

Are there other ways I can access a bike with DASH?

Aside from the traditional purchasing option, DASH also offers all-inclusive e-bike subscriptions through the scheme, as well as access to Cycle to Work tax savings on any bike share provider, such as Lime and Forest, all via DASH Flex.

How do I sign my company up to DASH?

To get started with signing your company up to DASH, you should speak to your HR/benefits team about setting up a Cycle to Work scheme and submit their details on our Employer Invite page.
