VanMoofs are designed with connectivity at their core and its features can be controlled through the user’s smartphone. They have a highly addictive Turbo Boost button that increases the level of pedal assist, giving a hit of instant acceleration. It also has a four-speed e-shifter that changes gears automatically, removing the need for manual gear shifters on the handlebars. They also have a rear-wheel kick-lock system and reactive alarm system to scare off potential bike thieves.
Sadly, the VanMoof is not immune to bicycle theft. However, it is designed with built-in location technology that includes real-time tamper detection and the ability to lock the bike remotely. VanMoof have a team of in-house ‘bike hunters’ who are dedicated to locating and recovering stolen bikes and claim to have a 70% success rate. On top of this, the bikes have an integrated rear wheel kick-lock and reactive alarm system to scare off potential thieves.
The VanMoof has an integrated battery which can’t be removed for charging. This means that the bike will need to be taken into your home, office or anywhere there is a power supply.
