DASH RIDES
DASH RIDES
You may have seen our 2023 impact reports and wondered how we got to those figures. In the interest of transparency, you can see our methodologies below.
(Not all of our bikes are tracked, so in some cases we have made conservative estimations, using benchmark data as to not over-inflate the comparisons).
If you have any questions about our data, you can drop us an email at hello@dashrides.com.
Total CO2 Saving (tonnes)
Comparison figure obtained from average CO2 emissions of TFL network + average petrol car
https://tfl.gov.uk/corporate/transparency/freedom-of-information/foi-request-detail?referenceId=FOI-1827-2223
Total Time Saving (Hrs)
When compared with equivalent journey on TFL, assuming e-bike use for commuting return journeys 3 days of the week
Total Distance Cycles (KM)
Calculated using Google Maps data
Total New Riders Added
Internal DASH data, vs. 2022
Total Money Saved
Compares against cost of TFL zone 1-3 daily cap, assumes DASH user cycles 3 times a week, using a RadRunner as a basic rate taxpayer
Big Mac Equivalent
Duration data calculated from Google Maps and aggregated across DASH riders. Assumes the average rider burns 200 calories per hour using an e-bike.

Friend Episodes Equivalent
Total time, divided by an average episode length of 30 mins
Distance Equivalent
Calculated using equivalent air distance
Cars taken off the road
Assumes 110.8g/km of CO2 emissions from average new petrol car, 6,600 average annual mileage.

https://www.gov.uk/government/statistical-data-sets/nts09-vehicle-mileage-and-occupancy
Calculation based on e-bike top speed limit of 15.5mph using cycle lanes, compared to average lowest speed in central London traffic (8mph at peak times).
Source: https://www.tomtom.com/traffic-index/
Based on average distance traveled information provided by TFL for 2022 (linked here) multiplied by the average CO2 g/km attributed to each tube passenger (linked here)
Compares the above figure with a zero emission e-bike ride, and includes the DASH carbon offset of 400% over the lifetime of the bike.
Based on the cost of the lowest current London Underground adult price cap between zones 1-2 (Monthly, £156.30) or 16x days using the tube at the minimum day cap of £8.10 (£129.6), less the cost of the cheapest DASH subscription (£29/month).
Prices are accurate as of 31st August 2023.
