About DASH & the role

DASH (www.dashrides.com) is a high-growth startup in the employee benefits space, on a mission to get more people cycling! We’ve built the leading platform in the market, helping employees to shop across the entire cycling market and save big on bikes and sports equipment when they pay out of their salary. 

We’ve reimagined the UK’s long-standing Cycle-to-Work scheme, transforming it from an employee benefit on the hygiene list to the hero list - growing over 1,400% in the last 12 months. We’re relentless in our approach, move fast and like to win. To date, our innovations have led the market, and we’re not slowing down. 

At its core, our platform is a marketplace which aggregates thousands of products across the cycling industry, price-matches them, and enables employees to pay directly from their salary, saving up to 47% in the process. We’ve also recently bought DASH Flex to market, a virtual bank card enabling people to unlock the same savings on the likes of Lime, Forest, Voi & more.   

We’re a lean team (8 people) and you’ll be sitting just across from DASH’s founders, giving you the opportunity to learn much more about the business than just what’s in this job description.

What you’ll do

There’s a lot to build, and you’ll have the opportunity to shape the role to suit you. You’ll get to work on projects from inception to launch. By the end of the internship, your work will be used by thousands of customers across the country, and you’ll be able to point to the tangible impact you’ve made at DASH.

• Design and launch new features. 
• UI/UX work across the DASH Store. 
• User testing.
• Build custom web scrapers to integrate new brands into the DASH Store (PHP, Python).
• Design & build internal dashboards.
• Data analytics - find out how customers are using our products and what we could be doing better.
• + so much more.

About you 

We know and love the Design Engineering skillset. Our previous intern went on to join DASH full time, and we now also have a new graduate. Could you be next? Beyond everything we know you're already great at, we’re looking for someone exceptional who:

• Wants to work at a startup. 
• Loves to solve hard problems. A lot of what we do has never been done before; you need to be able to get stuck in and work out what the right solution is.
• Is high agency; you don’t need to be told what to do (we’d love it if you came in and told us how we could be doing better). 
• Good communicator - clear, concise & friendly. 
• You're not afraid to speak up when you don’t know something.
• Passionate about delivering a world-class user experience. 
• Not afraid to get your hands dirty. We’re a small team in a fast-moving business, so what you’ll be working on might change depending on the needs of the business.

How we hire and how to stand out

1. Intro call (10 mins) - A brief chat to understand why you’ve applied and learn what your CV doesn’t say about you.
2. Practical chat (30mins) - We’ll spend 10mins covering a practical exercise which will require a small amount of preparation from you (we’ll give you a simple brief well in advance).
3. Final meet (30 mins) - an in-person meeting (in London) with at least one other member of the team, so we can meet each other and ensure fit (works both ways).
